Don't Assume You Have an Ironclad Guarantee

You buy an electric dog fence to keep your pet safe at home, right? What happens if your dog starts escaping the system? If you are like me, you would want your money back if you did everything requested by the fence company.

Sadly, that doesn't always happen. Did you know that practically all of the hardware or catalog stores have only a thirty day money back guarantee on their underground fence systems? As a professional trainer, that is nowhere enough time to be sure a pet fence will contain your dog the rest of his or her life.

It doesn't get much better with professionally installed dog fence systems. You have to do your home work before you buy.

Some fence companies have the same pitiful 30 day guarantee that the catalog stores do. There is no way I would buy one of those fences for my dog. Even if I was sure my dog would stay safe at home, why would I want to take that chance when there are better guarantees out there?

Other companies don't mention their containment guarantee at all (at least not on their websites). Makes you wonder doesn't it? I'll let you be the judge of the reason for this glaring omission. I can tell you one thing. Containment is the most important issue with dog containment systems.

There are a few companies that offer a one year dog containment guarantee. You should very carefully read the fine print on these companies' one year pet containment guarantee.

One company offers a one year containment guarantee with an asterisk. If your dog is not contained after 30 days, you only get refunded the cost of the equipment. You lose the labor portion of the installation cost. That is not a one year pet containment guarantee in my opinion.

There is only one company in the world that offers a full one year dog containment guarantee. Do a little research and you will find that company.

With this company, you have to follow your trainer's guidelines for containing your specific dog (based on temperament and personality). If you do that and the dog cannot be contained, you will be refunded the purchase price of your system.

In summary, containment is one of the most important benefits for you to consider when buying an underground dog fence. There may be other features that may be important such as the dog training program, warranty, where it is made, etc. Do your homework and find the fence most suitable for you and your dog. By doing this, you will be able to differentiate between companies that care and those that are just after your money.
